On October 24th, 2022 a new worship gathering was launched among a group of young adults at Axis Christian Church in Mason and among other local churches. Operating on a strong hunch, but an even stronger conviction that this particular setting was needed among the people in the Northern Suburb of Cincinnati, the team planned and responded by hosting their first gathering. While typically it takes months and years to plan to start a new effort, the leaders decided that now was the time and much of the specific ethos, practices, and details would become clearer as they set out into this new venture. The concept was simple, yet foundational gathering around a desire to worship the true king, Jesus and finding rest in Him. Musicians, creatives, and prayer warriors from multiple churches came together in this unified effort. One might assume that such theological and cultural diversity might present a challenge, but something quite beautiful emerged in the days ahead.

We have always dreamed of having a place where people in the Cincinnati area could come to know and find true rest in Jesus. Our goal is to create a space where we can be together as one to express our gratitude and adoration to Jesus through worship, while also building community. Abide was started with an inspiration from John 15, where Jesus talks about abiding in Him so that we may bear fruit. That is our heart. To see the Kingdom expand and bear fruit through our biweekly Monday worship nights. Some of our leaders often use the analogy of Abide being a “gas station”. A place where we can not only stop to take the time to rest and be filled, but to then go out and do the work that Christ has called us to do. Every good fruit speaks of its root, and for us, that root will always be Jesus.
